General Description

The purpose of this class within the organization is to ensure proper equipment installation, repair, and upkeep of all City facilities.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

  

Essential Functions: 

  • Performs minor HVAC system installation, repair, and diagnostics; coordinates with contractors of major repairs; manages automation system.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs and diagnostics; performs minor repairs of piping, backups, installing of new fixtures and oversees plumbing contractors on major projects.
  • Performs minor electrical work including replacement of ballasts and lamps with minor electrical repairs as needed.
  • Manages building access; repairs and replaces building access hardware, door hardware and doors; cuts keys for buildings and office doors.
  • Coordinates with contractors and building managers to plan and complete projects for various needs.
  • Works with contractors on larger projects throughout the City; receives bids, oversees work performed and follows up to ensure work is completed and meets requirements.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Performs miscellaneous office repairs; relocates office furniture and assembles new furniture; performs sheetrock repair and painting.
  • Completes daily reports on completed tasks and annual reports on projects that need to be completed or addressed. 
  • Performs related work as assigned.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one year of college in technical studies or closely related field. 
  • Requires two years building maintenance, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, HVAC or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

  • EPA Certification
  • Driver's License
