The successful applicant must be available to work Monday through Friday, from 5:15 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Work will normally be 20 hours per week.
Job Summary: Work involves attending to the public use of the Recreation Center(s) as assigned during afternoon, evenings and weekends in the kiosk booth and Kidz Korner. Under general supervision, routine work is performed independently.
Regular and timely attendance at work, as scheduled.
Ensure proper use of the facility, including opening and closing duties, oversee facility and enforce rules and regulations regarding proper use.
Complete reports and make periodic facility rounds checks.
Notify supervisor of any issues concerning need for major repairs or additions to heating, lighting, and ventilation equipment, building maintenance and equipment.
Provide assistance and information to citizens regarding recreation programs, activities, and events.
Arrange equipment, supplies, chairs and tables in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled classes, parties, events and/or meetings.
Demonstrate proper methods of equipment storage and cleaning to safeguard facilities and equipment.
Assist recreation personnel in the daily operations of recreation class programs and facilities
Maintains security by following procedures as set by department, and documenting as necessary
Maintains continuity among work team by immediately communicating any actions, irregularities, difficulties, and/or continuing needs to direct supervisor and abides by strict time constraints so as not to inconvenience co-workers
Provides clerical support to the Administrative staff by performing duties such as typing, proofreading, and stuffing mail as needed and approved by supervisor
Receives visitors, obtains name and nature of business, and announces to appropriate area
Demonstrate ability to deal with problems involving concrete variable in standardized situations. i.e. conflict resolution.
Provide positive and enthusiastic customer service to all participants, members and guests both on the phone and in person. When in person, greet them by name, exceed their expectations with service, and say goodbye and invite them back again the next day.
Conduct oneself at all times in a manner or professionalism that aligns with the values, philosophies and standards of the facility. This includes wearing facility approved attire and nametag
Connect participants through ongoing contact and promotion of the Pearland Parks and Recreation activities
Performs janitorial duties as needed (i.e. mop floors, remove trash, clean restrooms, dust, wipe down windows.)
Ensure that accurate facility records are maintained such as accident reports, attendance counts, and participation for hours which programs/facilities are managed.
Ability to lift, move, push, and pull large equipment while on duty.
Supervise children while they are in the Kids Korner.
Adhere to department established behavior policy
Engage with children through games, activities, and play.
Contribute to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Licenses
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's; ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and can effectively work on a computer.
Ability to effectively communicate with the general public and co-workers.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, and the general public.
Ability to safeguard sensitive or confidential information from intentional or unintentional disclosure.
Demonstrate basic knowledge of the English language and be able to read and understand both written and oral communication.
Knowledge of general janitorial methods and techniques.
Knowledge of the organization of recreation programs is preferred.
Ability to operate a personal vehicle for City of Pearland business, telephone, cell phone, sports equipment, broom, mop, computer, copier, and fax machine.
