Job Summary:   Performs all lube and filter replacements and provides general assessment to Chief Mechanic as needed. Purpose of job is to extend life of vehicles/equipment and eliminate down time; increase fuel mileage, and maintain all moving components free from sludge.
 

Essential Functions:
Regular and timely attendance at work.

Works safely and with appropriate PPE at all times.

Change oil; grease fittings; change air, fuel and oil filters.

Rotate tires as needed.

Inspect vehicle/equipment and report any possible problems for wear.

Raise vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.

Repair A/C, engine, brakes, driveline, and equipment as needed.

Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

 
Education, Experience, and Licenses:
High school diploma or equivalent, required.

One (1) year related experience and/or training required.

Valid, Class "C" Texas Driver's License required.

 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to operate hand wrenches, air impacts, filter wrench, sockets, vehicle lifts; may drive a vehicle to perform City business.

Ability to present a "positive image" of the City at all times.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to fulfill requests or otherwise provide services, accurate information or assistance in a courteous and timely manner without complaining.
